Full Interview with Caleb Campbell:
Q: Steele Auto Group and your partner network saw you back on the podium at VIR, how special was it to deliver that result for everyone supporting your program?
A: It felt great to be back on the podium at VIR. Steele Auto Group and all my sponsors have done a lot to help me this season, so it's nice to be able to reward that support with a good result. There's been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and weekends like this make it all worth it. I’m looking to keep the momentum going and finish the season strong.
Q: What is the single biggest technical or racecraft lesson you're taking away from VIR?
A: The biggest lesson I took away was how important it is to stay patient and pick the right moments to make a move. You don't have to force every opportunity, and sometimes being smart and consistent is what gets you the best result.
Q: Riding the momentum of your VIR P2 podium and sitting 3rd in the championship, what is your approach to securing 2nd overall in the final driver standings?
A: The goal from the start was to win the championship, and obviously it's disappointing that it's no longer possible. But there's still a lot to fight for. My focus now is on finishing second overall, and I'm confident I have the pace and skill to get the job done. I'm ready to give it everything I've got.
Q: Heading into Barber Motorsports Park for the October 16-18 race weekend, how are you approaching this event compared to the earlier rounds in the season?
A: I'm heading into Barber with a lot more experience and confidence than I had at the start of the season, but my preparation doesn't really change. I continue to study the track, put in time on the sim, and I got some extra seat time last week in Texas. I've learned a lot throughout the year, and with second in the championship on the line, I'm focused on putting it all together and finishing the season strong.
Q: Looking across your entire campaign so far, what is one technical aspect of your driving that you feel will give you an extra edge at Barber?
A: I'd say my consistency and ability to adapt throughout a race. I've gotten better at understanding what the car needs and adjusting my driving to get the most out of it. I also think my strength and physical fitness will give me an edge, especially at a demanding track like Barber where staying sharp from start to finish is so important.
Q: After seven intense race weekends across North America, how do you maintain peak physical conditioning for a high-G circuit like Barber?
A: Physical fitness has been a big focus for me all season. I stay consistent in the gym, working on my strength, endurance, and neck stability. With how demanding these cars can be, it's important to stay in shape so fatigue doesn't affect my performance. I feel like all the work I've put in has prepared me well for a track like Barber.
Q: What can fans watching live expect from Caleb Campbell during the final two races of the year from October 16 to 18?
A: They can expect me to give it everything I've got. I'm heading into the final two races with one goal: to win races and secure second in the championship. I'm not holding anything back, and I plan on finishing this season on a high note!
Q: Open-wheel racing brings extreme highs like win sweeps and tough mid-season stretches. What has this season taught you about mental resilience inside the helmet?
A: This season has taught me how important it is to stay level-headed, no matter how things are going. You can't get too caught up in the highs or let the tough weekends bring you down. Once the helmet goes on, you have to put everything else aside and focus on what's ahead. I've learned to trust myself, stay confident, and never count anything out. Things can change quickly in racing, and you have to keep pushing until the very end.
Q: Looking ahead to lights out on October 16 and through to the chequered flag on October 18, what message do you have for everyone following your journey?
A: A huge thank you to everyone who's supported me throughout this season. It's been a year of highs and lows, but I've never stopped believing in what I'm capable of. I'm heading into these final two races with one mindset: I'm here to win. There's still a lot on the line, and I'm ready to fight for every position and every point until the final chequered flag. The season isn't over yet, and I plan on finishing it strong!
